jHub Leadership Award

The jHub Leadership Award is designed to recognize one outstanding leader in the field of informal Jewish Teen Education and Engagement who is shaping the future of Jewish teen engagement.

The nominee must work:

  • With youth in grades 6 – 12 in the area of informal Jewish education. 

  • For an organization that is a  Member of jHub that is located in the 7 county Denver metro area.

Criteria for a successful nominee:

  • Demonstrates commitment to informal Jewish education and working with teens

  • Successfully balances their own leadership with empowering teens to lead

  • Instills passion in themselves and the people with whom they work

  • Demonstrates leadership both within their own organization and within the broader community

  • Impacts the wider Jewish community by collaborating with other Jewish organizations

Nomination process:

Nominations may be submitted by colleagues, supervisors, parents of teens or teens. A person may not nominate themselves. The winner will receive an award of $1,000 to be used for professional development.

To nominate someone, fill out the nomination form and submit it no later than 5 pm on May 25, 2017.

jHub Award for Innovation in Engagement

The purpose of this award is to recognize initiatives that hold great potential for reaching unengaged Jewish youth. Initiatives may focus on marketing, recruitment, outreach and/ or engagement.

Criteria:

Organizations who are Strategic Members in good standing with jHub and located in the metro Denver 7 county area may apply. Strategic Members may collaborate on an initiative. In that case, only one need be located in the Denver metro area.

Three organization will be awarded up to $2,000 to use toward implementation of the initiative. Funds may not be used for staff salaries. Each organization may only submit one application. Winners will be required to submit a final report after implementation of the initiative.

Initiatives will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Replicability

  • Feasibility

  • Potential Impact

  • Teen involvement in planning and/or implementation

Scholarships and Awards

Individuals can apply for assistance to offset the cost of undergraduate and graduate level courses or professional development workshops, seminars and conferences to further their work as Jewish Youth Professionals. There are two types of assistance.

Scholarships for Degree Programs:
  • Applicant must work for an organization that is a jHub Strategic Member in good standing and be employed as a Jewish Youth Professional serving 6th – 12th grade students in the Denver/Boulder area.

  • Applicant must actively participate on at least one jHub committee.

  • Courses must be relevant to careers in Jewish Communal Service and Education, including management courses, and approved by the jHub.

  • Applicants are eligible for $1,000 maximum per year.

  • Applicants will be reimbursed for their coursework upon completion of the class with a passing grade. A short report, invoice and transcript will be required in order to receive reimbursement. Students may be asked to give a presentation to jHub members where appropriate.

  • Preference will be given to students who have not yet received support from jHub. If more applicants apply than there are funds, the decision will be made by the Steering Committee.

  •  The first round of applications was due August 1st. You may still apply. Please log into your account to fill out the application.

Scholarships for Professional Development:
  • If all money is not used up in the initial round of Scholarships, as described above, jHub members will be notified of available funding for further professional development. The same requirements as outlined above will apply and the same application is used.
